NOPAIN ACT

What is the “No Pain Act”?

In December of 2022, the “Non-Opioids Prevent Addiction in the Nation”, or “NOPAIN,” Act was signed into law.  Going into effect in January of 2025, the NOPAIN Act expands patient and provider access to FDA-approved non-opioid pain management by providing additional reimbursement through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

What does this Mean for Hip and Knee Replacement Patients?

Patients now have access to federally funded non-opioid pain management medications, therapies, and injectables.  These include pain management injectables, cold-therapies and pumps, topical analgesics, nerve stimulators and cutting-edge nerve cryoneurolysis therapies such as the Iovera System used at Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma.

What are the Patient Outcomes of these New Options

Patients at Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma are reporting a decrease in their post-operative pain, reduced dependency on opioid medications, greater post-operative function, and improved physical therapy outcomes.
