Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation / Pain Management

Physiatry is a medical specialty that is a combination of physical medicine practice and rehabilitation care. Physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, also called physiatrists, are medical specialists who diagnose and treat patients who have a range of bone, joint, muscle, nerve, and pain disorders. Within physiatry, these specialty physicians focus on treating the whole person through expert diagnostics, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and comprehensive rehabilitation care.

With extensive training and experience in the diagnosis, nonsurgical treatment, and management of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and neurological injuries, dysfunction, and chronic pain syndromes, our physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma will understand every aspect of your condition and help you heal and advance.

Our specialty-trained physiatry doctors, Dr. Jake Worsham and Dr. Kelly Volk, will develop a tailored, comprehensive treatment plan for every patient, using an approach that will best serve that patient, recommending treatment options other than surgery first. As a board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Sisler is dedicated to fostering rehabilitation and helping patients gain greater mobility, reduce their chronic pain, and improve their daily function.

Our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Doctor Offers Patient-Centered Care

When a patient first notices a problem, it’s common to wait to see if it will go away or improve. However, it may not improve, and some medical problems should be addressed sooner rather than later.

Our specialty-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist provides the expert care a patient needs, including medication, electromyography and electrodiagnostic medicine, interventional pain care, epidural steroid injections, joint injections, physical therapy, home exercise and injury prevention programs, and other nonsurgical management. Under our care, your rehabilitation doctor may perform tests, such as nerve conduction studies and other electrodiagnostic tests to diagnose the source of your symptoms or track your rehabilitation progress. Other times, your doctor may coordinate treatment and therapy from an additional medical facility, such as an inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation center.

As a comprehensive subspecialty physician, your physiatrist may draw other specialists together as needed to offer patient-centered care. This may include coordinating a team of clinical professionals from other fields of medicine, such as surgeons, primary care physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapist, and other physicians to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care.

Our board-certified physiatrist and all of our dedicated orthopedic surgeons and physicians at Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma go beyond simply delivering medical services. They are healthcare professionals who listen to your concerns, expertly answer your questions and have dedicated their practices to helping people like you move forward and experience less pain, as well as greater success and independence in daily life.
